The Ig Nobel Prize awarding ceremony is held every year in the Sanders Hall of Harvard University; inspired by the Nobel Prize, it should be “with the aim of drawing people’s attention to various sciences, including medicine and engineering. However, in this ceremony, there is no mention of serious scientific research, and in fact, this award is given to achievements that are supposed to make us laugh first and then make us think.
This type of research, known as Improbable Research, includes all types of research from everything and anywhere. This research may be good or bad, important or unimportant, valuable or worthless. In other words, this ceremony is intended to prompt people in any field, including science, to question how to determine what is important. What is real and what is not?

Since 1991, three organizations have organized this event together. The primary organizer is the magazine Annals of Improbable Research. Also, the Harvard-Radcliffe Society of Physics Students and the Harvard-Radcliffe Science Fiction Association are among the sponsors of this event.
2019 Ig Nobel
The 29th edition of the Ig Nobel Prize ceremony was held on September 12 this year, and 10 prizes were awarded to the most interesting and funniest scientific research. The prizes for this ceremony are given to the top 10 most interesting research projects in the fields of medicine, medical education, biology, anatomy, chemistry, engineering, economics, peace, psychology, and physics.
It is worth noting that the prize for this ceremony in 2019 was 10 trillion dollars; of course, we are referring to the Zimbabwean dollar, which has become essentially worthless due to the economic crisis in that country. Also, this year’s non-cash prize was a glass filled with everyday habits. These awards are given by the recipients of the original Nobel Prize in previous years to the winners of the Ig Nobel.
Each award winner was given 60 seconds for their speech. If they exceeded this time, a young girl would approach them, shouting loudly, ‘Stop it, I’m bored.” The interesting point of this year’s ceremony was the presence of an Iranian among the first 10 people who won the 2019 Ig Nobel Prize in Engineering. Silvano Gallus from Italy; for collecting evidence that pizza can prevent disease; Of course, if it is bought and eaten in Italy.
Ig Nobel Prize for Medical Education
The prize of this section went to Karen Pryor and Theresa McKeon for investigating the effectiveness of the animal training method known as “clicker” for the training of orthopedic surgeons. In this method, the animal realizes with the sound of a click that it has done its work correctly and this behavior is strengthened in it.
Ig Nobel Chemistry Prize
The prize in this section went to Shigeru Watanabe from Japan and his colleagues for estimating the daily amount of saliva produced in five-year-old children. They found that these children secrete half a liter of saliva daily.

Dead American cockroaches retain more of a magnetic field than live cockroaches. This was the subject of the research for which researchers from several countries received the 2019 Ig Nobel Prize in Biology.

This award was given to the investigation of temperature asymmetry in the testicles of naked and clothed French postmen.

This award went to Iman Farah Bakhsh, assistant professor of metallurgy at the Islamic Azad University of Quchan. He has invented a device resembling a dishwasher, but instead of dishes, it is a machine for changing diapers and drying babies. Of course, he himself was not present at this ceremony.

Ig Nobel Peace Prize
This award was given to a research by researchers from Saudi Arabia, England and America. This research looked at the parts of the body that give the most pleasure when scratching. The result is that scratching the ankle gives a person the most pleasure.
